Memorial Description

Plaque with elaborate curved top set on a pattress approx. 2 feet high x 2 feet 6 inches wide which echoes the shape. At centre top of the plaque is a roundel carved in half relief depicting a crossed carbine and sabre with a service cap above resting on oak leaves. The names are listed in a single column between the dedication and the quotation. The lettering is incised and blackened, using Gothic lettering for the dedication, serif italic for the quotation, and serif capitals for the names.

Materials used

White marble on black slate.

This tablet is erected in affectionate / remembrance of the following who gave / their lives in the Great War 1914-1918.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man / lay down his life for his friends. John XV.13
