1. A plaque was also erected in the British Museum, as the following news report shows:
“Post-war honours are to be accorded to three Newcastle Librarians who made the great sacrifice, namely
Gunner C.P. Buck,
Pte. A.P. Jordan and Pte. G. Robson. The memorial is being erected in the British Museum by the Library Association. Doric is the type of architecture it displays, and the work of well seasoned oak will occupy a wall space of 45 superficial feet. It will be fixed in the corridor leading from the main entrance to the reading room of the British Museum, a setting eminently fitting. The detail of the mouldings and pediment is very delicate in treatment, the whole forming a beautiful tribute to the gallant dead. Including the three Newcastle librarians, the roll of honour comprises 136 names, inscribed in incised and gilded letters on five recessed panels.”
