Unveiled 26th September 1920 by Viscount Grey of Falloden.

Memorial Description

Plaque of white stone set in yellow sandstone frame 9 feet high x 4 feet wide (2.74 m x 1.21 m). At the top, a bronze laurel wreath has been mounted in the centre, with the dates "1914" and "1918" on either side, carved in the sandstone to stand proud. Below this, the words "The Great War" have been carved in the sandstone to stand proud. The central plaque is of marble, and bears the dedication, with the names of those who served listed in two columns. Those who died are at the bottom, in a frame of a single line, headed by the words "In memoriam" with a cross on either side. The headings are in Roman capitals, the names are in sans serif capitals.

Notes

1. At the unveiling, the Viscount said that the tablet was the property of the community, although on his property.

2. The unveiling of the plaque had to be postponed twice because Viscount Grey was ill on both occasions.
