Unveiled 1st August 1921 by Col. J.H. Nicholson of Cowpen Hall.

Memorial Description

Roll of Honour, 43 inches high x 72 inches wide. It comprises four planks joined horizontally, though so skilfully that one cannot see the joint unless looking very closely. There is a wide border of oak leaves, culminating in roundels in each corner featuring (top left) the English lions (top right) the Scottish lion, (bottom left) the Irish harp and (bottom right) the Welsh dragon. At centre bottom is the badge of the County of Northumberland with the quotation inscribed on either side. The names are listed in six columns. All the decoration, panel divisions and lettering are done by pokerwork.

Notes

1. Following the closure of the Ivy Leaf Club club at 3 Windsor Terrace, the house became a private dwelling. The memorial was taken to the Newbiggin Council Offices, then to Ashington Town Hall. Then it went to the Woodhorn Colliery Museum. It was later taken to the Sailing Club where it hung on the stairs, having been cleaned. From 2013 in the Maritime Centre.
