Unveiled December 1919 by the Vicar of Ellingham.

Memorial Description

Plaque 6 feet high x 4 feet wide, set on a black pattress, which echoes the shape of the elaborate domed top. At the top is a shield surmounted by a crown, with laurel wreath beneath, all carved in half relief, with the words "For King and Country" inside the wreath. The main panel is bordered by a half-round beaded edge with a Tudor rose in half relief at the two top corners. The lettering is in Roman capitals.

Notes

1. The unveiling should have been performed by Rev. W.T. Thorp of Charlton Hall, but he died just before the event. However, he had written his speech, and this was read by the Vicar.
