Memorial Description

Framed series of photos, 25inches high z x 18¾ inches wide. These are set inside an elaborate wide border, the four corners of which contain rowing scenes. Half way up each side, set in the border, are (left) Berwick Borough Arms and (right) the Club emblem. At centre bottom is a shield with several flags behind it. The photos of the men are each set inside a wreath.

1. Ian C. Taylor is listed by Commonwealth War Graves as Ian CLEASBY TAYLOR (under “C”) & 8th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers (Soldiers Died has him in 7th Battalion), killed on 4th December 1917, commemorated at Bancourt British Cemetery, native of Berwick-upon-Tweed, son of John CLEASBY TAYLOR MD & Frances Anne CLEASBY TAYLOR, 313 New Kings Road, Fulham, London.

2. Patrick R. Gray is listed by Commonwealth War Graves as Patrick Riddle “GREY”, of 15th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, attached to 8th Battalion, commemorated at Thiepval.
