Notes

1. Faculty number 3532 was issued 04/10/1952 to erect a carved oak war memorial in place of the existing war memorial of six pictures in the said church. The petition requested “A tablet, bearing an inscription, flanked by two tablets bearing names of the fallen with desk and two brackets for flowers”. The Chancellor’s approval required the flower brackets to be omitted from the design.

2. The original plaque read: To the memory of the men / of this parish who gave / their lives in the World / War 1939-1945 and whose / names are inscribed on / the two side lights of the / east window of this church.” This was recast to read as it does now.
