Unveiled 4th May 2007 The statue of Thomas Young was unveiled by his nephew, Jack Walsh; that of Richard Annad was unveiled by his nephew Sir David Chapman.
Memorial Description
Two statues. Below each is a framed plaque given a history of the person.
Below is a brass plaque. At the top is the Durham Light Infantry badge raised in half relief.

Notes
1. There were two empty niches on the stairway, which is why the statues were placed there.
2. A maquette of the relevant statue was presented to Mr. Walsh and Sir David Chapman by the Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear Mr. Nigel Sherlock.
