Notes

1. At the unveiling, a gold albert watch and medal were given to Mr. John Dwyer and £10 in Treasury Notes to Mr. John Curry in recognition of voluntary services rendered to the Memorial Fund.

2. Mr. Swindle lost a son in the war.

3. 381 men had returned from the war. Each had been given £1 plus 2/6d for each child. £74 15s had been paid out to widows and £16 to parents who had lost a son. 18 men had been awarded Military Medals and were given a small sum. £5 had been paid to the D.L.I. Prisoners of War fund; Christmas gifts had been given to widows. £246 14s 10d had been paid to the Red Cross Ambulance. Money had also been aside to create cottage homes for aged miners.
