In Dozinghem Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 459328 Sapper William John Caughey, serving with the 447th Company. Royal Engineers, who died 03/11/1917.

His story is told in: We Will Remember Them: The story of the men on the Ponteland War Memorial M.E. Sobo, 2005, Ponteland Parish Council, [No ISBN], page 32.

In Ponteland (St.Mary) Churchyard is a headstone which reads:

In loving memory
of
Ellen, the beloved wife of
James Caughey, who died
October 25th 1893, aged 48 years.
Sarah, daughter of the above
died April 6th 1897, aged 27 years.
Also of Andrew their son
who died Dec. 21st 1903, aged 32 years.
The above James Caughey,
who died Jany. 24th 1906, aged 67 years.
Also William John, Sapper R.E.
son of the above James & Ellen Caughey
died of wounds Nov. 3rd 1917, aged 27 years
Interred in Dozingham Cemetery, Belgium
Also Ellen daughter
who died Aug. 16th 1952, aged 78 years.
