Jackson, W., A/Smn., 1917
On the Arras Memorial is the name of Z/3184 Able Seaman William Jackson, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 28/04/1917.

Colin Boyd has offered the following:-

William was born on 30th April 1894 and was working as a miner living with his parents, William and Ann at 16, Murton Row, Percy Main when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 15th January 1915.

He joined the Anson Battalion on 18th July 1915 and went sick on 15th December 1915 with an ingrowing toenail.

William rejoined the Anson Battalion on 8th January 1916 and was invalided to the UK on 29th March 1916 with dental problems.

He rejoined the Anson Battalion again on 26th November 1916 and was posted as being killed in action on 28th April 1917.

William Jackson is remembered in Percy Main on P22.01 and in Tynemouth on T36.14 page 15
