Kipping, J.W., CERA., 1914

On Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of Chief Engine Room Artificer John William Kipping, serving with the Royal Navy who died 15/10/1914.

In Tynemouth (Preston) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving remembrance
of
William Kipping
dearly beloved husband of
Catherine Kipping,
died February 10th 1901.
Frederick Ernest Kipping,
son of the above,
drowned at Lulea, Sweden
July 19th 1899, aged 24 years.
Also John William,
eldest son lost in H.M.S. Hawke
Oct. 15th 1914
Also Wilfrid Kipping,
youngest son killed in France
Nov. 1st 1917.
Catherine Kipping wife of above
and our dear mother died Sep.16th 1924.

John William Kipping is remembered in Tynemouth on T36.14 page 16 and on our List of Ships’ crews
