Jordan, R.P., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1621 Able Seaman Robert Proudlock Jordan, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 20/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Robert was born on 15th November 1894 and was working as a miner living with his parents, John George and Isabella living at 7, Percy Street, Backworth when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 9th November 1914. (This address was later changed to 22, Northumberland Terrace, Backworth.)

He joined the Hawke Battalion on 9th May 1915 and was posted as missing assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on 20th June 1915.

Robert Proudlock Jordan is remembered in Backworth on B1.01 and B1.03
