In Earsdon (St. Alban) Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 96408 Private Thomas Frederick Nicholson, serving with the Durham Light Infantry, who died 23/1/1919.

The family headstone reads:

The family burial place of
Joshua and Isabel Nicholson
In loving memory of
Joshua Nicholson
who died January 12th 1912
aged 54 years.
Loved in life deeply lamented in death
Also of their three children
John, Elizabeth and Dorothy
who died in infancy.
Safe in the arms of Jesus.
In proud and loving memory of
my dear son Pte. T.F. Nicholson
who died through illness contracted
in France on the 23rd of February 1919
aged 27 years
Son of the above.

Greater love hath no man than
this that he give his life for
his friends
Peace, perfect peace.
