He was the husband of E. Cook, of 12, Tweedy Street, Cowpen, Blyth.
Morpeth Herald 17/11/1916 carries a brief obituary:
Private James Cook, of Bebside, previously reported missing, is now reported to have been killed in action on July 1st.
The Blyth News 04/07/1921 carries the following:
"Reported killed in action, July 1st, 1916, Private James Cook of Bebside. Deeply mourned by his sister and brother-in-law and family, Maggie and William Steele."
