In St.Peter’s Churchyard is a family headstone for Reay which reads:

In loving memory

Martha
beloved wife of Thomas Reay
who died at Haughton March 20th 1903
in her 64th year
Also the above Thomas Reay
who died at Haughton Feb. ?13/15th 1909
aged 77 years
Also John James Foster
grandson of the above
and second son of
Joseph and Isabella Foster
Sgt. King’s Royal Rifles
killed at Ypres June 7th 1916
aged 21 years
Buried in Potijze Military Cemetery
Nobly lived and nobly died.

The name of John James Foster is not included on any local war memorial.
