In Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1823 Private James Albert Carr serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 26/05/1915.

In St. Giles' Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:-

The dearly beloved son of
Thomas & Barbara Carr
Accidently drowned
May 26th 1923 aged 21 years
Also James Albert
Died of wounds
Received in Action
25th May 1915
Also William
Killed 16th Feb. 1935

Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail 18/02/1935 reports:-

Third Son Killed
A fence rail penetrated the windscreen of a motor lorry which overturned on the Humshaugh-Chollerford road on Saturday and impaled and fatally injured the driver as he sat in his seat. The driver William Carr of Colwell was the third son (sic second??) of Mr and Mrs Thomas Carr of Colwell to have lost his life by accident while another son was killed in the war.

Deceased who was 32 leaves a widow.

Soldiers Died in the Great War has his names in reverse order.

James Albert Carr is remembered at Chollerton on C35.01
