Laurence Molden was born in Bedlington, Northumberland in 1899 to parents William and Nellie Molden, nee Percy. In 1901 his family was living at High Street, Bedlington in the house of his grandfather William Percy. The 1911 Census show Lawrence is 11 years old and at school. His family, which now includes siblings Nancy 7 and Percy 5 is living at 9, Millbank Terrace, Bedlington. This was the address he was living at when he enlisted at Bedlington. Lawrence’s father was a boot repairer. On 6th August 1919, his effects amounting to £7 2s 6d which included a War Gratuity of five pounds went to his father William indicating he was probably single.
He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02, B15.09, B15.20 and B15.02 page 51, and in Morpeth on M17.06 and M17.12
