Daniel Elliott was born at Bedlington, Northumberland in 1893 and was the son of Daniel and Sarah Ann Elliott. In 1901, aged 6, he was living at New South Row, Bedlington where his father, born at Shipley Burn, Northumberland, was a chargeman underground in the coal mines. Daniel had 4 siblings at this time; they were Mary 16, William 14, George 11 and Eleanor 10. At the age of 16 in 1911, Daniel worked on the surface of a coal mine as a screener. Daniel enlisted at Bedlington when he was 21 while living at 9, New South Row, Bedlington. New South Row was one of the colliery rows which was located very close to the Doctor Pit. Information shows he was missing reported dead in the German Lists. His parents moved to 9, Burdon Terrace, Bedlington around the time of, or after his death. There is no evidence to show Daniel married.
