At the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais France, is the Commonwealth War Commemoration for 20084 Private Edward Foster, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers (12th Battalion) who died 25/09/1915.

Derek Johnstone has provided the following:

Edward Foster was the son of William and Mary Foster and was born in 1895 at Morpeth, Northumberland. His father William was born in North Shields and was a joiner / carpenter and his mother was born at Monkseaton. In 1901 included in his family were siblings William 14, John 12, Richard 9, Ernest 7 and Mabel 4. The 1911 Census shows Edward had another brother Sidney and his mother was now a widow, his father having died since the last census. Edward was 16, single and working as coal miner as were four of his brothers. He was living with the family at 15, Second Street, Netherton near to Bedlington. At the time Edward enlisted at Bedlington he was living at 20, Second Street in the same village. None of the records checked show Edward to have married.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.26 page 105
