On Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial is the name of 15957 Guardsman George Edward Davis serving with the Scots Guards 1st Battalion who died 30/07/1917.

Derek Johnstone has provided the following:

George Edward Davis was born in Gateshead, Durham in 1894; his parents were George and Margaret Davis. In the 1911 census, he was living at 26, Doctor Terrace, Bedlington where he was he son in law of the Thomas Henderson who was the head of the household. This information indicates, if correct, George was married. If so at 17 he was very young. At this time he worked in the coal mines as a surface labourer. George enlisted at Newcastle when living at 26, Doctor Terrace.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02, B15.09 and B15.26 page 46
