Menin Gate Memorial
Carole Fife has provided the following:
William, the seventh of eight children to Thomas and Mary Logan, was born in Felling, Gateshead, in 1893. His father came from Bedlington and he and Mary lived there when they were first married, but by 1882 they had moved to Felling, where the remainder of their children were born. They had returned to Bedlington by 1901 and were living at Wood Row in Bedlington Station, with the three eldest boys working down the pit with their father. Thomas died in 1909 and the family moved to 9. Double Row, Barrington, where William went to work at the pit with his brothers, being a pony driver underground.
