Carole Fife has provided the following:
Henry was born in Bedlington in 1892, the eldest son of Joseph and Mary Ann Jennings. In 1911 the family lived at Mansion House, Bank Top, Bedlington and Joseph was a Carting Contractor and General Dealer.
Henry worked for his father as a cartman, and this is probably why he joined 64th Remount Squadron RFA as a shoeing smith. The Blyth News reported that Henry's parents received a telegram on the morning of 2nd November telling them that their son was dangerously ill in hospital, so presumably he died in the hospital at Steyning, Sussex, and was brought home for burial. Henry's original gravestone has disappeared and he is named on a headstone with two other servicemen whose graves cannot be found.
He is remembered in Bedlington Station on B163.04 and in Bedlington on B15.05
