BEDLINGTON

Tindal, L.E., Pte., 1918
In Bronfay Farm Military Cemetery, Bray-sur-Somme, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 92735 Private Louis Ernest Tindal serving with the Royal Fusiliers who died 26/08/1918.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

Louis was born in 1893 in Heaton to James and Isabella Tindal, and his father was a tailor's cutter. In the 1901 census the family were living at 4, Fairfield Road, Jesmond, Newcastle, and his elder sister Lottie was a pupil teacher. The family moved to Bedlington soon after this as Louis attended the Whitley Memorial School. The Enlistment Book shows the family living in Front Street. Louis is not named on either Coal Company Roll of Honour which would indicate that he didn't become a miner, and his legatee was his father so he wasn't married. His military record shows that he was attached to 2nd Battalion the London Regiment.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02, B15.09, B15.20 and in B15.26 page 6
