Carole Fife has provided the following:
Lewis is the younger brother of George Taylor who also died.
Lewis, born in 1896, was the first of John and Margaret Taylor's children to be born in Edinburgh after they moved from Aberdeen. By 1911 the family had moved to Bedlington and were living at Hollymount. Lewis, a 'hanger on', was working at the pit with his brother George. Lewis died on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. Their elder brother William served as a sergeant in the Machine Gun Corps and survived the War.
He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02, B15.06 and in B15.26 page 5
