On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of 23/420 Private Joseph Stewart serving with 23rd Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 01/07/1916.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

Joseph was born in Bedlington on 17th June 1886 and was baptised at St Bede's R.C. Church on 21st June. He married Jane Dixon in 1907 and they had four children; Margaret (1908), James (1910), George (1913) and Joseph (1914). Joseph was a hewer and in 1911 the family were living at Glebe Row, Bedlington, but at the time of Joseph's enlistment they were living in Tankerville Yard.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.06, B15.11, B15.16 and B15.26 page 101

Is his name spelled as "Steward" on B15.02?
