Carole Fife has provided the following:
I had great difficulty in finding Donald, but he appears to be this person with his name spelt incorrectly by the CWGC. In other records for the man with this military number his surname is always spelt Cameron, as it is in census records. Donald was born in Coarlish, Lanarkshire in 1890, the eighth of nine children to James and Mary Cameron. His father was a miner from Strathaven in Lanarkshire, and although most of the family were born in Scotland, two children were born in Bedlington in about 1880 -82. before the family returned to Scotland. In 1901 they were living in Seghill and by 1911 they had moved to 228 Yard Row at Netherton Colliery. Donald became a miner like his father, and in 1913 he married Florence Brewis and they had a son James in 1914.
