On the Le Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial is the name of 8450 Private David Hewitt, serving with the 18th (Queen Mary's Own) Hussars who died 24/08/1914.

Margaret Allison reports that in 1911 his address was 67 Sycamore Street, Ashington, and that he was aged 23 when he died.
