In North Sunderland Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

C.R. Mac Kenzie (sic)
Royal Engineers
2nd March 1919, age 23

Charles Roderick was the son of Alice Mackenzie and the late Charles Rose Mackenzie. He served with the Railway Operating Division and was formerly (127390 Gunner) Royal Garrison Artillery. He was sent home for demobilization, but on his arrival at Ripon he sadly contracted the flu pandemic which arose at the war’s end and later died from the complications of pneumonia at home. He was buried at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, North Sunderland.
