Cockburn, A., Pte., 1917
On the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, is the name of 2633 Private Arthur Cockburn, serving with the 56th Australian Infantry, A.I.F., who died 26/09/1917.

In Felton Cemetery is a family headstone for Cockburn which reads:

William Cockburn died at West Thirston 6th January 1924 aged 62 years. He was faithful servant to John Stott for 42 years. Martha Ann, his wife, died 23rd October 1927 aged 64 years. Also Arthur Cockburn his son, who fell in action at Polygon Wood 26th September 1917 aged 25 years.

Morpeth Herald 26/10/1917 carries a brief obituary:

ROLL OF HONOUR
COCKBURN.- Killed in action on September 26th, 1917, aged 25 years, Private Arthur Cockburn, A.I.F., second son of Mr and Mrs Wm. Cockburn, Waterside Farm, West Thirston, Felton.

Morpeth Herald 02/11/1917 carries the following:

ROLL OF HONOUR
COCKBURN.- Mr and Mrs Wm. Cockburn, of Waterside Farm, West Thirston, Felton, have been notified that their son, Private Arthur Cockburn, of the Australian Contingent, has been killed in action in France.

Arthur Cockburn is remembered at Felton on F14.01 and F14.02
