Taylor, T., L/Smn., 1916
On the Thiepval Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/772 Leading Seaman Thomas Taylor, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 13/11/1916.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Thomas was born on 4th June 1894. He was working as a grocer living with his parents, George and Mary Jane at 6, Acklington Street, Amble when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 19th October 1914.

He joined the 3rd Platoon, "B" Company of the Collingwood Battalion on 4th February 1915 and then transferred to the Howe Battalion on 8th June 1915.

Thomas was killed in action in France on 13th November 1916.

The CWGC has his Service Number as Z/777.

Thomas Taylor is remembered in Amble on A13.01 and A13.07
