Royal Engineers
21st February 1919, age 44.

His memory liveth

wife.

George was born in Berwickshire, Scotland the son of Ralph and Mary. He was the husband of Mary (nee Davies), whom he married on 4th January 1890 at St George’s Church, Newcastle upon Tyne. At the time of his death, Mary was living at 43 Dupont Street, Toronto, Canada.

George enlisted on 26th February 1917 and served with the 1st Company, Inland Waterway & Docks Unit. He was formerly (271880, Sapper). He had a couple of spells in hospital in early/mid 1917 before being admitted to Sandwich Military Hospital on 6th January 1919.

George died in Sandwich Military Hospital after suffering from Ostietis of the frontal bone and meningitis. Under King’s Regulation XVI; his mother and brother were present when he passed away. They took the decision to have him interred in Elswick, where they gave an address of 28 Lord Street as a residence, as his wife lived overseas.
