The son of John William and Mary Jane Boland of Norton, Stockton-on-Tees. A Pilot based at RAF Standishall with six months service with 214 squadron, he died when his Wellington Mark 1 C Bomber crashed into the North Sea off the island of Texel, Netherlands on a mission to Hamburg on the 30th November 1941 aged 24. The husband of Rita Frances Boland he is buried in Texel (Den Burg) Cemetery, Noord-Holland, Netherlands, Grave Reference K.4.75.
