Halliday, R., L/Cpl., 1944
In Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 3602840 Lance Corporal Raymond Halliday, serving with the Border Regiment who died 24/09/1944.

He was part of the 1st Airborne Division which took part in the raid on Arnhem. His body was placed in a grave to an Unknown Soldier but has now been identified and a CWGC headstone erected.

It is believed he was married to Lily and they had a son Raymond.

The Journal 16/07/2016 tells the story of the battle, the discovery of his body and the search for relatives.

He is remembered in Billingham on B139.01
