On the Alamein Memorial is the name of 825984 Serjeant Andrew Davidson Bygate, serving with the Royal Artillery who died between 30/05/1942 and 04/06/1942.

Heslop's Local Advertiser 15/6/1946 carries the In Memoriam notice:
"Bygate, Felling, Sgt. A.D. Bygate, R.A., killed at Knightsbridge on May 31st, 1942."
There is another insertion in the edition of 12/6/1948 which reads:
"Bygate - Heworth, Andy, Sgt., killed in action May 31, 1942"

He is remembered at Windy Nook on W95.02
