Holmes, W., Pte., 1918
In Tincourt New British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 19/229 Private William Holmes, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 13/07/1917.

John Taylor and Ann Norman have submitted the following:

William Holmes was born in about 1884, the younger brother of Robert who is also remembered on the memorial. William served as a Private with 19th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers (Tyneside Pioneers), regimental number 19/229. He died of his wounds on the Western Front on 13th July 1917. He is buried in plot: I. B. 5. at the Tincourt New British Cemetery in the Somme area of France.

He is remembered in Eighton Banks on E50.01 and E50.02 and in the Battalion History page 198
