EIGHTON BANKS

Harvey, F., Pte., 1916
In Corbie Communal Cemetery Extension is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1254 Private Frederick Harvey, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 26/08/1916.

The following has been submitted by John Taylor:

Frederick was born in Esh Winning, County Durham in about 1880, the son of Benjamin and Mary Harvey. He was employed as a coal miner (hewer) and married Maria, in about 1903. In 1911 they were living at 10 Heatherdale Terrace, Wrekenton, with their three children, Ernest and Herman, who were six and four, and Annie who was four months at the time of the census.

He served as a Private with 19th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers (Tyneside Pioneers), regimental number 19/1254. He died of his wounds on the Western Front on 26th August 1916. He is buried in Plot 2. Row B. Grave 66, at the Corbie Communal Cemetery Extension in the Somme region of France.
