In Etaples Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 235725 Private J. Simpson, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 28/03/1918.

The Blaydon Courier 02/04/1921 carries the following:

"In Memoriam.
In loving memory of our dear son, Jonathan Simpson, of Dipton, killed in action 28th March 1918. Ever remembered by his father, mother, brothers and sisters.

Soldiers Died in the Great War states that he was born in Durham and enlisted in Annfield Plain. He formerly served with the Northumberland Hussars with the service Number 270191.

Jonathan Simpson is remembered at Dipton on D46.02
