Regimental colours laid up 1920
In St. Cuthbert's Church are the regimental colours for the 2nd Batt. Tyneside Scottish which were laid up on 10th July 1920 by Col. Joseph Reed.

The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 12/07/1920 reports the ceremony. After the ceremony, the Bedlington Coal Company Ltd. provided refreshments for about 500 men from the regiment or dependants. This was followed by sports in an adjoining field, followed by a smoking concert in the Sun Inn.

On July 24th there would be a military ceremony on Newcastle Town Moor when the colours of the 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th, 18, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 51st, 52nd and 53rd Battalions of the Northumberland Fusiliers, and of the 1st and 2nd Garrison Battalions, would be consecrated and presented for laying up.

The Journal 06/07/2009 reports the rededication of the colours.
