Memorial Description

Mirror 3 feet high x 1 foot 9 inches wide set in a 9 inch wide wood frame. There is a patterned border. At centre top is the Salvation Army badge with the motto “Blood and Fire” with an inward looking angel blowing a trumpet on each side. Names are in Roman capitals, under the headings of “Bandsmen” and “Soldiers”.

Notes

1. Rather confusingly, the word “Soldiers” divides the names “Ritchie and S. Bolton” so that it reads “Ritchie Soldiers S. Bolton”, but the word “Soldiers” differentiates these names from the “Bandsmen” above.

2. The ranks have been etched into the glass near the names but are difficult to read.

3. The name “Griffinn” should be “Griffin” The soldier was my Great Uncle, E.W. Griffin. (Derek Griffin).
