Opened 10th September 1950 By Coun. Mrs. G. Waggott, chairman of Whitley Bay Council. Dedicated by Canon A.B. Parry-Evans of Whitley Bay. Rededicated 13th November 2002

Memorial Description

Garden with pool. Plaque 11 inches high x 36 inches wide (276mm x 914mm) set into the ground. Lettering is of lead attached to the stone.

Materials used

Pink granite.

Inscription

This garden and pool
has been provided to commemorate those of the
Civil Defence Service and Special Constabulary
of the Whitley Bay Urban District
who gave their lives in the War 1939-1945.

Notes

1. The pool was rectangular with a fountain. This has now been filled in and made into a flowerbed.
