Unveiled and dedicated 10th September 1950 by Mr. G. Holden, who was in charge of the town's ambulance service during the war. Dedicated by Canon A.B. Parry-Evans, of Whitley Bay.
Memorial Description
Fountain
Small plaque 11½ inches high x 29 inches wide, (286mm x 736mm) set in the ground in a small garden. The lettering is of lead, mounted on to the stone.
Materials used
Matt pink granite.
Inscription
Erected to the memory of
my daughter Doris Ewbank
who made the supreme sacrifice
for her town and country
April 10th 1941.
Let us remember our glorious dead.

Restored; rededicated 13th November 2002 by the Vicar of St. Mary’s Church, Monkseaton.
Notes
1. The memorial was restored and the story revived by the “Memories of Miss Doris Ewbank Group” under the secretaryship of Mrs. June Thurston.
2. Friends of War Memorials (now War Memorials Trust) gave £250 towards the cost of restoration.
