Unveiled 29th December 1921 by ex-Pte. Archibald Dagg, of Linnbriggs, old school-fellow of the deceased. Service conducted by Rev. J.L. Ainslie

Memorial Description

Illustrated Medici print of Sir Galahad, heavily framed in oak, approx. 2 feet 6 inches high x 1 foot 6 inches wide (762 mm x 457 mm). The lettering was incised and painted.

Notes

1. A former head teacher, who lives in Longframlington, reports that the picture started to deteriorate. The family requested to take it away, but was refused, because the picture had been given to the School. In the end, when the school closed, the picture was thrown out.

2. Walter Dent Oliver was born on 04/04/1897. Admitted to Windyhaugh School 02/05/1904. Left school 10/05/1909. Lived at Carlcroft.

3. He was reported to have served with the Royal Engineers.

4. The family moved to Rookhope, Wear Valley, before 1911.

5. Pte Oliver is remembered on two memorials at Rookhope: R51.01
