Memorial Description

Plaque with pedimented top. There is a traceried pattern which divides the memorial into two arched panels into which the names are carved and gilded.

Notes

1. When it was noticed, relatively recently, that the memorial did not contain the two names from WW2, the woodcarvers were approached to add the relevant details. They were concerned that not sufficient space was available to properly accommodate the extra names, so they removed the engraved part of the memorial, reversed the wooden panel, and re-engraved all the names on the back and then re-assembled the memorial.

2. Cpl. Lowson and Major Johnston(e) are mentioned on family tombstones within the churchyard. See Every Name a Story page.
