Dedication, Creation or Publication date

Unveiled in the name of the town on 17th October 1920 by Ald. W.S. Vint, Mayor of Sunderland. Address by Rev. A. du T. Pownall.

Memorial Description

Plaque, 24 inches high x 16 inches wide, shaped something like a Thor hammer, set on a rolled moulded border. There is a single line border all round.
Across the top is a string pattern. Below this is the badge of the Royal Garrison Artillery with the words “Great War” and the dates on either side.
All lettering is in elongated Roman capitals for the dedication and sans serif capitals for the names.
