Unveiled 25th July 1920 by Mrs. W.W. Inglis; dedicated by Rev. S.P. Carey, former pastor.

Memorial Description

Plaque in moulded marble frame. The plaque has a border of raised double lines. The background seems to be “pecked”. The lettering is in raised Roman capitals throughout apart from the quotation which is in lower case.

Bronze in marble surround.

In loving and grateful recognition / of the following who made the supreme / sacrifice in the Great War 1914-1919 / and also of the 140 associated with this church / who served & survived the Great Conflict.
“For their work continueth great beyond their knowing”.

Messrs. W. Morris, Ltd., 17 George Street, Hanover Square, London.

Notes

1. In the late 1990s, the church had been recently redecorated. The view of the current pastor was that the names were too remote in time to have any significance for the present congregation and it should not be put back. Amid great controversy it was consigned to the boiler house.

2. The church, an Edwardian building, was due to be demolished in 1999

3. From the church, 140 had served.
