The men this tablet commemorates were numbered amongst those who at the call of King and Country left all that was dear to them, endured hardship, faced danger and finally passed out of the sight of men by the path of duty and self sacrifice giving up their own lives that others might live in freedom. Let those that come after see to it that their names be not forgotten. The blood of heroes is the seed of freedom.

Notes

1. In 2005 the Methodist Church was demolished and the Parish Church closed. A new joint church was built on the Methodist site.

2. The Methodist memorials are stored in the new building.

3. In 2014 the plaque was refurbished.

4. In 2014 the Anglican members of St. Peter's & St. John's Anglican & Methodist Church decided to move to Witton Gilbert St. Michael's. The Church is now known as Sacriston Methodist Church.
