Memorial Description

Panel 3 feet 6 inches high x 18 inches wide (1.06 m x 457 mm) forming one part of the panelling in the Chapel. Above the inscription is the RAF badge. The lettering is incised in Roman capitals and painted blue.

Oak, identified as coming from the Old Forest of Rothbury.

Notes

1. Sgt. Thompson was a member of the crew of Halifax I L9603 TL-P which took off from Linton-On-Ouse on a Rover Patrol of the Ruhr with Essen as its object tive. It was shot down by a night-fighter and crashed in the Imbos Forest, Holland. Four of the crew were taken prisoner. Three were killed and were buried in a private cemetery in the grounds of Rozendaal Castle.
