Memorial Description

Roll of Honour, approx. 2 feet 6 inches high x 2 feet wide, set behind glass in a narrow, wood frame. The edge is decorated with leaves, and in each corner is painted a daffodil, rose, thistle and shamrock. The lettering is in black, with headings in red. Those who died are indicated by a red cross to the left of the name. The names are in four columns, which are divided into "Postal staff" and "Engineering staff".

Notes

1. For some years this memorial had no glass, and was hung facing the wall on the stairs.

2. Restored 2000 and replaced in the main office just inside the front door. When the Post office was moved to the Back Riggs, the memorial was kept in the Royal Mail Sorting Office in Oldgate which hadn’t moved premises, where the memorial can be seen behind the counter.
