Dedication, Creation or Publication date

a. Surnames and initials recorded on lectern in 1922. Unveiled 19th February 1922 by John Reed of West Moor. Dedicated by Dr. Wild, Bishop of Newcastle.

Memorial Description

Lectern, 55 inches high, with book rest 24½ inches wide and 21 inches high, resting on an octagonal splayed foot. On the front at the top is carved an angel carrying a laurel wreath, standing in a traceried arch, with his feet resting on a carved column. The dedication is carved in Roman lower case, the lettering on either side of the angel is inside panels defined by a cable border. The names are incised in Roman capitals on the book rest, those from 1914-18 on right and left and those from 1939-45 and the Falklands in the centre.
